From reading through your settings, they appear to be identical. Except, I am not certain what Vox 2 is, or B5 0. If the number 2 beside VOX is a setting, you should set it to off or zero.
Otherwise, they appear like they should work. (VOX = voice activation, and when enabled will cause a radio to transmit when it hears a sound, voice, etc.) If you are using an audio device such as an earpiece or headset, be certain you are plugging it in with the radio turned OFF. Lack of transmit can also be a sign of a bad battery or bad battery connection. You might try swapping the batteries and see if the problem moves to the other radio.
If these are less than one year old, use the number in your user guide to contact Motorola for a possible warranty replacement. Best regards.
May 18, 2013. Parts for the small size TalkAbout line of radios were never offered to dealers, other than batteries, chargers and accessories. Your best option is to purchase a used radio from ebay to scalp for parts, or possibly by contacting a vendor such as, who deals in lots of the smaller TalkAbout radios. They may have some which have been scrapped for parts. The larger TalkAbout line of radios, such as the TalkAbout Distance and Distance DPS are repairable radios, and many parts for them are still available. Best regards.

OR you can also use a drop-in style charge with this radio (note there are charge contacts on the bottom of the radio.) All of this is with the thought you you have the HNN9044 or HNN9056 rechargeable NiCD battery installed If your radio only has alkaline batteries they cannot be recharged in the radio (even if a rechargeable kind). Alkaline would require an external charger specifically made for the alkaline batteries. Here is a link to the user guide: Sep 13, 2012. Handheld radios generally will talk 'radio-to-radio', 'line-of-sight' up to 2 miles.
Once you start putting obstacles in between the radios you will shorten your range. Advertising literature will sometimes give numbers such as '5 mile range'. While this is possible in ideal conditions, it is not common in real-world situations. HEIGHT and PLACEMENT of the antenna determines the range of the radio. Example: Talking from a mountaintop you could talk far into a valley below, much further than the expected 2 miles.

However, if you were to be in an congested city, you may only be able to talk a single city block due to obstacles. To get the best range, use a well charged battery pack, wear your radio high on your body, and always hold the antenna perpendicular to the ground when using the radio.
